My group came up with the title 'SOTA SPORTS because it was a straight forward option and you could easily tell what the magazine was about without having to ask questions. We chose the fonts because they were bold and can get the readers attention easily. We think this font will grab the readers attention!

HOOP Magazine is a NBA focused magazine. The magazine is specific to the NBA which is good because I am doing a sport specific issue and I am planning on doing basketball. HOOP includes in-depth interviews and talks about the players lives outside of games and practices. The cover has a single player with the title HOOP behind them. Even though the title is behind the athlete, they did a very good job of making the title visible and obvious compared to some other magazines where the title was unclear. I could not find a media kit or a circulation number for this magazine but I assume they would produce a lot since NBA is a major league. This is my favorite magazine I have reviewed so far.

Runner's World is specifically a running magazine which is a good resource to look at since my issue of my magazine will be focused on a specific sport too. It is easy to tell what the magazine will be focused on because all the covers have someone running on the cover and the title reads RUNNERS with a short description before it. Runner's World has 650,000 subscribers. 96.5% access a copy through subscription and the other 3.5% access through newsstands. Runner's World has won several awards including being acknowledged for "Creative Team of the Year" and has been nominated 3 times for the National Magazine Award. Runner's World is a huge company with 18 international editions. This company is obviously super successful a will probably be a main reference I will use.

USA Today Sports Weekly is an American sport focused magazine. From the issues I have reviewed I can tell its mostly focused on football and baseball which explains the title of the magazine. The magazine has a lot of interviews and offers statistics on each league they cover. The magazine used to be called USA Today Baseball Weekly but over time it opened their reach to include football too. The magazine is estimated to have 2.6 million a day so it is clearly a favorite magazine of sports readers. This magazine might be a good resource for me to review because it is focused and my issue to the magazine will be focused on a specific sport.

Sports Illustrated Magazine is a very full magazine. The cover is very action packed and can almost even be over-whelming. The cover is usually an action shot of an athlete with the title of the player or the team they play for. The actually title of the magazine, Sports Illustrated, is behind the athlete which I am not a big fan of because at first glance I was not sure what the title was. The pages inside are a lot different then I thought they would be. The inside pages are kinda boring compared to the cover. There is not a lot of pictures or colors inside. This magazine seems to be very popular with over 3 million subscribers. This magazine is not my favorite but it could potentially be a good reference when creating my own.

On the ESPN Magazine front page cover, it always features a single athlete which either a uniform or a piece of equipment that signals what sport they are involved in. The title is always in the same font but usually in different colors. The pages have smaller text and large artcials with a picture of a featured athlete somewhere on the page. Since the artcials are larger I assume they are filled with lots of information and probably quotes from interviews. The ESPN Magazine won the   National Magazine Award for General Excellence and it was also nominated for the GLAAD Media Award for Outstanding Magazine Overall Coverage. The company produces more then 2 million copies per year. The ESPN Magazine is definitely a good magazine to reference when creating my own.
