CCR Q#1

1. How does your project use or challenge conventions and how does it represent social groups or issues?

My magazine uses conventions through the pictures displayed inside. The cover photo is a great example. The shot is a low angle which is significant for the theme, basketball. It makes the player seem very tall and intimidating which is typical traits on a basketball player. Another 2 examples could be found in the two page article. There is a wide-shot of the court and a two-shot of two of the players. Both of these shots are important because they give you a feel for the setting of where the team spends most of their time and even shows you a couple of players. I used a white background for my two-page article to make the words pop out to my readers. I had my models dress in their practice wear so when the readers viewed these pictures they would feel like they were getting a behind the scenes looks!

The social groups that can be represented through my magazine are young men that enjoy watching and playing basketball. My models all fit this destruction as they are teenage boys that all play for the Sarasota High Basketball team. They are portrayed the same as they are in real life.
